Chapter 7 - Integration - 7.1 Antiderivatives - 7.1 Exercises - Page 366: 3

Answer

An integrand is the function to be integrated.

Work Step by Step

Basically, it is the answer to the question : "What is the function being integrated?" For example, consider the integral $\int x^3dx$. Here $x^3$ is the integrand because that is the function we are integrating. Just like dividend is a number to be divided, an integrand is a function to be integrated. There can be odd and even integrands. Odd integrands are functions symmetric about the origin while even integrands are symmetric about the $y$ axis.
