Answer

The answers to (b) and (c) decrease if $\theta_0$ is increased by a few degrees.

Work Step by Step

In part (b) and part (c), we found the required value of $v_0$ when the string makes an angle of $40.0^{\circ}$ with the vertical. Even if $\theta_0$ is increased, the required speed when the string makes an angle of $40.0^{\circ}$ with the vertical remains the same. Note that the speed of the bob increases as the string changes from an angle of $\theta_0$ to a smaller angle of $40.0^{\circ}$ Therefore, the required speed at $\theta_0$ would be less than the speed at $40.0^{\circ}$, which is the speed we found in part (b) and part (c). The answers to (b) and (c) decrease if $\theta_0$ is increased by a few degrees.
