Answer

Increase

Work Step by Step

In Problem 11a, we used $v = \sqrt {v_{0}^{2} – 2g\Delta h}$ with $v_{0}$ = 0 to find $v$. If we had an initial downward speed, then we’d have $v_{0} \gt 0$ and our value of $v$ would only increase. This makes sense because the flake is falling and therefore gravity is accelerating it downward, making any current downward speed greater.
