(ii) $a^m \cdot a^n = a^{m+n}$ Write each factor in scientific notation to obtain: $=4(10^{-5}) \cdot 1.2(10^4)$ Multiply $4$ and $1.2$ together, and then multiply the powers of 10 together to obtain: $=(4 \cdot 1.2)(10^{-5} \cdot 10^{4}) \\=4.8(10^{-5+4}) \\=4.8(10^{-1}) \\=0.48$
