Monosaccharides are the simplest carbohydrates having between 3 and 8 carbon atoms. They have only one aldehyde or ketone functional group. Ex- fructose Disaccharide is a sugar composed of two monosaccharides. Glucose and fructose can be joined to form sucrose . Aldose is a sugar with an aldehyde functional group. Ex; Gulcose Ketose is a sugar with ketone functional group. Ex. Fructose.
