Chapter P - Review Exercises - Page 37: 1

Answer

Y-Intercept: $(0,-8)$ X-Intercept $(8/5,0)$

Work Step by Step

To find any intercept of a graph, you make one of your variables equal to 0 1. To work out your Y-intercept, you make x=0 $Y=5(0)-8$ Therefore, the Y-intercept (where the graph cuts the y-axis) is $(0,-8)$ 2. To work out your X-Intercept, you make Y=0 $0=5x-8$ Therefore, the X- intercept (where the graph cuts the x-axis) is $(8/5,0)$
