(2) Write the result in Step (1) above as the numerator and retain/copy the original denominator of the mixed number. Thus, the improper fraction form of the given mixed number is: $=\dfrac{16(3) + 7}{16} \\=\dfrac{48+7}{16} \\=\dfrac{55}{16}$
