# Chapter 10 - Radical Expressions and Equations - Chapter Review - Page 654: 11

A=0.7

#### Work Step by Step

The hypotenuse is 2.5 and one of the legs is 2.4. Find the other leg using $a^{2}$+$b^{2}$=$c^{2}$. Plug in the leg for B and the hypotenuse for C: $a^{2}$+$b^{2}$=$c^{2}$ $a^{2}$+$2.4^{2}$=$2.5^{2}$ -simplify the exponents- $a^{2}$ + 5.76=6.25 -subtract 5.76 from both sides- $a^{2}$=0.49 -find the square root of 0.49 in order to solve for a- $a=0.7$ The other leg is 0.7.
