Chapter 7 - Quantum Theory and the Electronic Structure of Atoms - Questions & Problems - Page 315: 7.6

Answer

Example 1: A chicken laying eggs Example 2: Climbing a flight of stairs

Work Step by Step

Example 1: A hen can only lay whole numbers of eggs, as each one has been packaged in discreet units, not half an egg, or just the shell, or the yolk. Example 2: Each step up or down has to be a discreet height determined by the steps. It is not possible to make half a step on the stair because that "half step" distance simply does not exist. Either you go one whole step or stay where you are.
