Answer

Ans. 7cm

Work Step by Step

Given:- let the length of side of cube=x A/c to the question a slice cut from a cube the sides will become, x-3, x, x Volume of cube =$(x-3)x•x$=$x^3-3x^2$=196 Therefore, $x^3-3x^2-196$=0 Find out the factor of equation by hit and trial method. We get x=7 So, (x-7) will be its one factor Dividing $x^3-3x^2-196$=0 by( x-7) we get $x^2+4x+28=0$ and the equation does not have a real root. So length of side of a cube is 7cm. Ans.
