Chapter 1 - Mid-Chapter Check Point - Page 165: 5

Answer

All real numbers are solutions of this equation

Work Step by Step

We have $$4x - 2(1-x) = 3(2x+1) - 5$$ First we are going to do the multiplications in order to eliminate the parenthesis taking in count the sings law $$4x -2*(1) -2*(-x) = 3*(2x) + 3*(1) - 5 $$ $$4x -2 +2x = 6x + 3 - 5 $$ Taking $x$ terms to the left side of the equation and numbers to the right side $$4x +2x - 6x = 3 - 5 + 2 $$ Simplifying $$0 = 0 $$ As we got $0 = 0$ all real numbers are solutions of this equation
