Day 5

Number the Stars Lesson Plan

Discussion of Thought Questions

  1. 1

Is there more to being brave than not thinking about the danger? If so, what do you think it is?

Some students may believe that Uncle Henrik's definition is accurate, that being brave means you don't think about danger because something else is more important to you. Some students may think that you're only brave if you're not afraid; push their views somewhat, asking who they think is not afraid and how they know. Some students may think that you're only brave when you face danger. Encourage meaningful discussion about all views that are presented.

  2. 2

Why does Uncle Henrik think it's dangerous for Annemarie to know the truth, even though he chooses to tell her anyway?
