After his girlfriend leaves him, Eddie stumbles upon his ex-wife's brother who gives him the pill.

Abbie Cornish is an Australian actress who also has a career in the music industry as a rapper under the stage name Dusk. Her breakthrough role was with the movie Bright Star. Lindy is Eddie's girlfriend who leaves him at the beginning because she is tired of his failures and of having to be his financial support. They get back together after Eddie experiences success induced by the NZT pill, and they end up together at the end as well.
Anna Friel
Anna Friel is an award-winning English actress who has a long acting career behind her, starting out very young. The character of Melissa is Eddie's ex-wife who makes an appearance in the middle of the movie to give Eddie information about the NZT and to reveal that she's been taking it as well.
Robert De Niro
Robert De Niro is a household name in the American movie industry being in both positions of an actor and producer. Carl Van Loon is a successful businessman whom Eddie gets in contact with and plans to earn a lot of money on the stock market. At the end of the movie Van Loon threatens Eddie, revealing that he knows about the pill and asks him to be at his disposal.
Andrew Howard
Andrew Howard is a Welsh actor, with roles and appearances on both big and small screen. Gennady is a character of a criminal who loans Eddie some money, and later starts taking the pill himself and blackmailing Eddie to provide him with a supply.
Johnny Whitworth
Johnny Whitworth is an American actor whose breakthrough role was in the movie Empire Records. Vernon is a character who makes an appearance at the beginning of the movie. He is a drug dealer who gives Eddie the NZT pill, soon after which he finds him killed in his apartment.
