    Scrooge has been taken back in time by the Ghost of Christmas Past. He arrives at to find himself at a party of his former employer. It is at this party that he meets Belle, a woman we can see he loved dearly. We watch as Scrooge chooses money over her and she leaves him for it. This painful memory is the end of his time with the Ghost of Christmas Past as he returns to the present.

    What's ironic about Scrooge going to Cratchit's home on Christmas Day?

    Scrooge has arrived at Bob Cratchit's home on Christmas Day. This is unexpected as Scrooge only deals with Bob in his office, never at home. This potentially implies to Bob that Scrooge wants him to work and that Christmas is over. The irony comes when Scrooge pretends to be stern to everyone but then reveals he is giving Bob a raise and paying off their mortgage. He's a completely changed man.

    What is the irony of Scrooge's relationship to Fozziwig?

    Fozziwig is Scrooge's former employer who was his mentor, and taught him about business. The irony of their relationship is that Fozziwig was a man of great glee and merriment, and treated people with kindness and generosity; Scrooge became the complete opposite of the man he trained under as he is stern, cold and looks after only his money and not the people he employs.
