"There are two things in this life I hate: heights, and jumping from them."
Rizzo the Rat makes it clear to Gonzo what he hates in life. Ironically, the second relates to the first in that he doesn't want to die jumping from heights, an act that Gonzo doesn't allow him to get out of.
"If you please Mr. Scrooge, it's gotten colder, and the bookkeeping staff would like an extra shovel full of coal for the fire?"
Kermit asks Scrooge for extra coal to keep everyone warm, but this only causes Scrooge to threaten everyone with unemployment. Kermit's attempt to help his fellow workers crashes away.
"It's all right, children. Life is made up of meetings and partings. That is the way of it. I am sure that we shall never forget Tiny Tim, or this first parting that there was among us."
Kermit is poignant about the reality of life and Tiny Tim's death in this sequence of the film. As hard as it is, suffering is a part of life that we all must learn to deal with in a healthy way, no matter the hurt.
