The Muppet Christmas Carol was released in 1992. It was directed by Brian Henson and based off of Charles Dickens' classic novel "A Christmas Carol", with a screenplay written by Jerry Juhl. Martin G. Baker along with Henson produced the film which which follows a similar plot line to Dickens' story as they convince the old and bitter Scrooge that Christmas is a season of redemption to which he initially is forcefully resistant, until he is visited by three ghosts who show him the meaning of Christmas.
Michael Caine plays Scrooge, with Dave Goelz, Steve Whitmire, Jerry Nelson, Frank Oz, David Rudman, Don Austen, Jessica Fox and Robert Tygner doing the voice acting for the muppet characters in the film. The picture was made with a budget of $12,000,000 and grossed $32,000,000+ in worldwide ticket sales. The director is the son of Jim and Jane Henson, who were both puppeteers and whom created the Muppets.
