As energy is transformed, the amount of useful energy decreases. It cannot be regenerated, or "renewed", back into useful forms. Renewable energy typically refers to energy derived from resources that are considered to be "endless": waves, solar power, for example, but none of these are truly renewable. Even the sun will eventually run through its reserves.
