Chapter 1 - Questions - Page 51b: 13

Answer

1. Observing data 2. Making hypothesis 3. Validating hypothesis via experiments

Work Step by Step

Fundamental steps of scientific method- 1. Observing data : In this step we observe data regarding something and we try to notice pattern or meaning in it. 2. Making hypothesis : During this step we make a hypothesis based on the observations above. 3. Validating hypothesis via experiments : In this step we do several experiments to validate our hypothesis. If the hypothesis proves to be wrong then we look at the new result and we repeat the cycle. The scientific method is a dynamic method because we have to keep on updating our theory and hypothesis based on further observation and experiment. We can not be certain when we may find a result that does not fit our hypothesis and we have to modify that.
