1. a. The main sources of carbon monoxide are automobile exhaust, wood fires, and charcoal cooking fires. Because CO is such a dangerous gas, adequate venting to the exterior is needed where charcoal or wood fires are used for cooking. The use of a carbon monoxide detector is also advisable in these circumstances.
