Let the first integer be $x$. Since the two integers are consecutive, the second whole number is $(x+1)$. As the sum of the two integers is $-83$, we obtain: $x+(x+1)=-83$ $x+x+1=-83$ $2x+1=-83$ $2x=-83-1$ $2x=-84$ $x=-42$ Therefore, one of the integers is $-42$ while the other integer is: $-42+1=-41$.
