n is an even number. The number after n would be n+2 The number after n+2 would be n+2+2= n+4 thus (n+2)(n+4) Use FOIL to simplify. FOIL: First (Multiply the first variables in the brackets), outside (Multiply the outer variables), Inside (Multiply the inside variables), Last (Multiply the last variables in the brackets). = (n+2)(n+4) = $n^{2}$ + 2n + 4n + 8 *** Add like terms = $n^{2}$ + 6n + 8
