George
George has recently lost Jim, the love of his life in a car accident. He has decided to kill himself on this day. Everyone he meets he sees in a heightened sense of awareness. He is lead back to life by one of his students, Kenny when a heart attack claims his life after deciding not to commit suicide.
Jim
Jim is George's partner and his great love. They were together for 16 years before Jim was killed in a car accident. Jim's parents did not like that their son was gay and thus did not call George to tell him their son was dead, nor do they invite him to his funeral. Jim is seen in memories that George has of him throughout the day.
Kenny
Kenny is a student of George's who takes an interest in George who stands out to him for his impassioned speech about fear. Kenny comes into the same bar George is at the night he is going to kill himself and it is their night spent together that causes George not to kill himself.
Charley
Charley is one of George's oldest friends from London. They once slept together when they were younger and George still loves her. Charley is far more interested in being with George romantically than he is in her, and attempts to seduce him into being with her at their dinner party for two.
Carlos
Carlos is a young man from Madrid who came to Los Angeles to get an acting agent after meeting an American overseas. But, his thick Spanish accent has gotten in the way of any success. He meets George outside a liquor store and they share cigarettes together. He is ready to go home with George, but George doesn't allow him to go home with him.
