Objective:

Students will perform one of the works of poetry or song that is referenced in The Stone Angel to explore why these references are included and how it deepens one's understanding of the novel.

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.11-12.4, CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.1

Structure:

Students may choose from any number of references in the text to outside works. Particularly useful ones may be:

1. The hymn, “All people that on Earth do dwell” from Chapter 10

2. The poem, “Meg Merrilies” by John Keats from Chapter Chapter 5
