    What does the Prologue make you believe the tone of the play will be?

    The prologue implies that the play will be comic and wry, since that is the tone of the prologue, and also with a certain self-awareness about theatrical storytelling. It may surprise students to have the prologue focus on the author and authorship, rather than the content of the story itself—indeed, for the prologue to mock, in different ways, both playwrights and audiences. Students may conclude that they are going to read a bizarre, funny, somewhat self-aware play.
