    How does Beaumarchais treat religion in the play? Why do you think he treats it this way? What tone does Figaro use when he references religion in his soliloquy?

    Beaumarchais doesn't target religion throughout the play as much as he targets the government and the unequal wealth distribution and injustice across society. The absence of references to religion is somewhat conspicuous given the boldness with which he jabs at other systems of authority. There is no mention of a religious aspect to the wedding ceremony; we have almost no indication whether the characters practice religion of any kind.
