Chapter 31 - Nuclear Energy; Effects and Uses of Radiation - Questions - Page 909: 22

Answer

Put a liquid radioactive tracer inside the pipe, one whose particles can’t pass directly through the walls of the pipe. Check the outside of the pipe with a radiation counter, and look for places with elevated radiation levels.

Work Step by Step

The tracer should not be detectable except where there is an opening in the pipe.
