Answer

2-chloro-4-fluoro-3,3-dimethylhexane.

Work Step by Step

1. Find the parent chain and were we should start couting the carbons: The parent chain will be the line of carbons in the middle. We should start counting the carbons from the right. (So the substitutents get the minimum number.) 2. Functional group: No funtional group: "e" 3. Insaturations and number of carbons on the parent chain: - No insaturations : "an" - 6 carbons: "hex" 4. Substitutents: - 2 methyl on carbon number 3: "3,3-dimethyl" - 1 chloro on carbon number 2: "2-chloro" - 1 fluoro on carbon number 4: "4-fluoro" * Remember to alphabetize it: "2-chloro-4-fluoro-3,3-dimethyl" 5. Stereoisomerism: No stereoisomerism (No double bonds.) 6. Put them all together: 2-chloro-4-fluoro-3,3-dimethylhexane
