Answer

4,4-dimethylcyclohexan-1-one

Work Step by Step

1. Find the parent chain and were we should start couting the carbons: The parent chain will have the carbon hexagon and the oxygen. We should start counting from the carbon that has the ketone, so the number of the functional group will be minimum, the direction (left or right) will not make difference. 2. Functional group: - 1 Ketone on carbon number 1 - "1-one" 3. Insaturations and number of carbons on the parent chain: - No insaturations: "an" - 6 carbons in the parent chain, and they are forming a cycle: "cyclohex". 4. Substitutents: - 2 methyl groups on the carbon number 4: "4,4-dimethyl" 5. Stereoisomerism: No stereoisomerism (No double bonds). 6. Put them all together: 4,4-dimethylcyclohexan-1-one.
