We know that according to Le Chatelier's principle, a gas is more soluble in a liquid at higher pressures because when the gas dissolves in the liquid ,the system decreases in volume and thus tends to decrease the applied pressure. On the other hand, when a solid is dissolved in a liquid, a very little change occurs in volume.
