Ball and stick models depict atoms as balls connected by bonds, as sticks. This format displays bond angles and the bonds themselves very clearly, but in reality, exaggerates the distance in between the atoms. Space-filling depicts atoms as just spheres or truncated spheres connected together, and do not show the electron 'bonds' like the ball and stick model does. The atoms are proportional in size, and more realistic and accurate, but are more time-consuming to construct.
