Lymphocytes are the second most abundant type of white blood cell, making up 25-35% of all white blood cells. There are two types of lymphocytes: B cells and T cells. Mature B cells (also known as plasma cells) produce antibodies which mark pathogens for destruction. Cytotoxic T cells directly destroy pathogens.
