Chapter 7, Cell Structure and Function - 7.1 - Life is Cellular - 7.1 Assessment - Page 194: 2b

Answer

If a micrograph is "false-colored," it means scientists have used computer techniques on the image to add false color and make a certain structure stand out more.

Work Step by Step

A micrograph is a photo of an object that is seen through a microscope. The colors that appear in light micrographs come from the cells themselves, or they may come from stains or dyes used to highlight them. With electron micrographs, however, the micrographs appear black and white. In order to make the structure of the cell stand out more, "false color" is added.
