Chapter 4 - Section 4.2 - Trigonometric Functions: The Unit Circle - Exercise Set - Page 549: 92

Answer

See below:

Work Step by Step

There exist two quotient identities: 1. The relation of the tangent function in terms of the sine function and cosine function. 2. The relation of the cotangent function in terms of the sine function and cosine function. The quotient function is applicable for right angled triangle trigonometry. The identity is a relation which is true for all values of the variables. The quotient identity for the tangent function is the ratio of the sine function to the cosine function and the quotient identity for the cotangent function is the ratio of the cosine function to the sine function.
