Mutually exclusive events are events that are not occurring at the same time (there will not be any intersection between the two event in a Venn diagram). For example, a single roll of a die can not have 1 and 2 at the same time. Thus rolling a 1 and rolling a 2 from a die are mutually exclusive events.
