The vertex, the point where the parabola changes direction, is the origin. We see that the parabola $x = ay^{2}$opens right side if $a>0$ and left side if $a <0$ . Given: $x = -2y^{2}$ Here, $a=-2$ This represents the equation of a parabola which has the standard form as follow: $y=a(x-h)^{2} +k$ vertex, $(h,k) =(0,0)$ The graph will be a parabola opens to left side as depicted below:
