Answer

If the denominators of the two fractions are not equal, then the product of the two fractions will be easier to compute than the sum of the same fractions.

Work Step by Step

When the denominators of the two fractions are different. Then, the product of the two fractions can be easily calculated just by multiplying the numerators and the denominators of the two fractions. That is, if $\dfrac{a}{b}$ and $\dfrac{c}{d}$ are the two fractions where $a$, $b$, $c$ and $d$ are different numbers. Then the product $\dfrac{a}{b}\times\dfrac{c}{d}=\dfrac{a\cdot c}{b\cdot d}$ But since the denominators are not equal, the sum of the fractions can not be calculated directly. Thus, if the denominators of the two fractions are not equal, then the product of the two fractions will be easier to compute than the sum of the same fractions.
