Chapter 9 - Roots and Radicals - 9.5 - Solving Radical Equations - Problem Set 9.5 - Page 425: 44

Answer

The answer is below.

Work Step by Step

While checking solutions for all equations is important, it is especially important with radicals because there can be extraneous solutions. After all, because squaring both sides of the equation does not consider that square roots cannot be negaitve values, many of the "solutions" to the equation will not actually work when plugged back into the original equation.
