## Algebra 2 (1st Edition)

Solving the equation using the rules of Algebra, we find: $$\left(\sqrt{x-3}\right)^2=\left(x-5\right)^2 \\ x-3=x^2-10x+25 \\ x=7,\:x=4$$ We see that $x=4$, however, is extraneous, so it is not a solution.
