Chapter 5 - Linear Functions - 5-2 Direct Variation - Practice and Problem-Solving Exercises - Page 297: 40

Answer

Pattern: As the constant becomes greater, the line becomes steeper. The graph of y=1/2x would be wider than all of the lines.

Work Step by Step

We deduced the pattern by looking at the graph and realizing that as we increase the constant, our lines would become more and more steeper. We also can assert that the graph of y=1/2x would be more wider than all of the lines. Since we realized that as you increase the constant the lines get steeper, it must be the case that as you decrease the constant the line gets wider.
