The graph of y=|x| is graphed below and to graph the function y=2 |x| we need to vertically stretch the graph by a factor of two and to do so we multiply each y-value times 2 while keeping the x-value same. So for example, the point (1,1) of function y=|x| becomes (1,2) for the function y=2 |x| as the y-value is doubled.
