We do not see the x and y terms because they were eliminated when we add the two linear equations. If we were to graph the system that led us to have this statement, we would see only 1 line because the two lines are on top of each other. All points of one line satisfy all points of the second line so therefore there is an infinite number of solutions that satisfy, in total, both the systems.
