Never Fade Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Jude's compass symbol

Jude's compass is a symbol of his naivety, of his belief in change. The compass is useless to him because it points to the wrong direction because of his powers, but he still keeps him with him at all times. It was given to him by Alban and it is the only thing Liam is able to retrieve for Ruby when he found Jude dead reminding Ruby that she needs to fight and believe in change as well.

Colour symbolism

The color grey represents lack of emotions, gloom, and depression. President Grey is acting according to the color in his last name stopping at nothing, having no compassion in getting what he wants, his son Clancy is also a similar character. There is the symbolism of colors in the different levels of PSI kids; Red being the most dangerous one.

Allegory of political corruption

Alban is in the front of the Children's League as its leader, but, as Ruby later discovers, he is only a puppet for the hidden corrupted agents that have his ear. Alban is struggling against their influence and that shows to be fatal for him at the end. This notion that the leaders that show their faces to the public are only tools and that there is someone hidden behind them who is controlling everything is not an unknown one in the real world, especially in the conspiracy theories. President Grey is manipulative and stops at nothing to get what he wants. The talk of political corruption is not a rarity in the real world.

Liam's jacket symbol

Ruby keeps Liam's jacket with her at all times and it is a symbol of their love. She has the jacket with her on her quest to find Liam and when Liam gets his jacket back their love comes out. Ruby accidentally makes him remember everything and even though Liam is upset with her they don't separate from that point onwards.
