Light and Dark
Brown uses the imagery of light and darkness in order to reflect the emotional states of the characters. For example, in the following passage, Brown uses imagery to contemplate the meaning of home:
“Home isn't where you're from, it's where you find light when all grows dark.”
Fox and Hare imagery
In the following passage, Brown uses the imagery of a fox and hare in order to discuss strategic thinking: "If you're a fox, play the hare. If you're the hare, play the fox." Here, by using the imagery of a fox and hare, Brown compares being cunning and sly to being fast.
Plague imagery
In one passage, Brown writes that "there is no greater plague to an introvert than the extroverted.” Using the imagery of a "plague" dramatizes this passage, and emphasizes how the presence of an extrovert is apparently very terrible for an introvert.
