The irony of Arturo
Arturo is the eldest son of Crystal Lil and Aloysius Binewski. These parents bestow their eldest son to take care of the family affairs. Ironically, instead of Arturo using his position to bring harmony and unity to his family, he rules with an iron fist. Making matters worse, Arturo starts a cult called altruism in which he forces ordinary people to cut off their limbs to look like freaks. Arturo manages to brainwash society that they can achieve their potential if they cut their limbs.
The Paradox of Oly
Oly and Arturo are siblings. Readers do not expect Oly to have a child with her elder brother Arturo. Ironically, Oly takes Arturo's sperm while asleep and inserts it into her womb to become pregnant. A few months later, Oly gives birth to Miranda, but she gives her off to a convent. Miranda grows up but never knows that Oly and Arturo are her biological parents.
The irony of Miss Lick
Miss Lick strongly believes in altruism, which involves cutting off human limbs to look like freaks. When Miss Lick meets Miranda, a freak with a tail, she does the contrary when she suggests paying for her surgery to remove the tail. The reader finds it ironic that a woman who believes humans should look like freaks offer to transform Miranda into a normal human being. Readers would expect Miss Lick to be proud of Miranda because she is a freak. On the contrary, Miss Lick believes Miranda can be more successful if she transforms into a normal human.
