Presence of death (Metaphor)
The death is the most dreadful notion for people, which can come imperceptibly. Its main task is to fight with life, force people suffer and endure awful pain. But actually, the meaning of death is figurative in this novel. Rose affirms that death is bliss, when you have an opportunity to die during the fight with Strigoi, saving somebody’s life. Death during the fight is a beginning of new life, which can present you with gladness and take away all the sufferings.
Relaxation (Simile)
What can be better than to spend time in a funny company of cheerful friends? One day Lisa, Rose and other students finally find a large pool, a little out of the way. They all slip into the water, and everybody feels like to be in “a soup kettle”. It means that the water is hot, as there are hot wells, which can relax after the hard day.
A Girl of bad behavior (Simile)
When Lisa and Rose decide to have some fun, they drink champagne. And when Lisa grabs Rose by her arm and jerks her out of the room, the drink sloshes out of her glass and splashes onto the skirt of her dress. Lisa’s heart fills with joy, because she thinks that Rose dresses up “like a cheap whore”. She means that Rose wears too transparent costumes, and spoiling such garments is not such a big deal.
