Frostbite Symbols, Allegory and Motifs

Stake (Symbol)

We can observe that the silver stake is the most important weapon of dhampir. The silver stake is nothing special, but if dhampir charges it with a magic of four basic elements, it will be deadly for Strigoi. The fact is that Moro magic is alive and it cannot exist in the body of vampire (Strigoi). The silver perfectly absorbs this magic. The silver stake is a symbol of Strigoi's death.

Sun light (Symbol)

All the vampires hate the sun light. Strigoi hide in the caves and hunt during the night. Moroi have a night style of life and that’s why all students of the academy study during the night time. Only dhampir can luxuriate during the sunny weather, because they are half-vampires. The sun light symbolizes the vampire’s weakness, which takes away all energy and makes vampires to be incapable.

Relationships (Motif)

The main motif of this book is not only vampires. A relationship between the main characters is also a very significant motif, which reveals the main idea of the book. There are many types of relationships, which hint at the atmosphere. Friendship between Rose and Lisa shows that the real friends exist. Romantic relationship of Rose and Dimitri interests readers and at the same time it forces to feel the emotional experience between them. As to the conflictive relationship of Moroi and Strigoi, it always keeps readers in tension and shows the power of good and evil.
