Writing

If you could only do one of the activities you have listed in the Activities section of your Common Application, which one would you keep doing? Why?

I was in second grade the first time someone told me my words meant something. Eight years old with a state winning story! That was the little spark that started my love, and ever since then, I have wanted to reach into minds and whisper insistently, give others my own thoughts to consider, impact lives by reforming ideas. I wrote perpetually, following Ira Glass’ comfort for aspiring writers. He says: keep writing even when it’s bad, at least you are priming your taste (an unteachable discernment), and eventually the more you write… your abilities will satisfy your tastes.

Writing is challenging, and that makes it all the more something to cling to. Creation is something writers find ourselves addicted to, shooting up dialogue and descriptions to the veins that run with incorrigible ambition. It is the process of discovery, for yourself, and for the stories of others around you.
