Gloria
Gloria is the main protagonist of the movie. She is a housewife and works as a cleaning person to support her family. Her family, on the other hand, gives very little regard to Gloria's sacrifice, ignoring her for the most part. She becomes addicted to pills and the movie shows her slow emotional and psychological decline.
Antonio
Antonio is Gloria's abusive husband. He works as a taxi driver, but contributes very little to the household. Despite that, he expected to be treated as a royal patriarch by his wife. He dreams of the love from his past, a German singer called Ingrid, and openly expresses his wish to reunite with her to Gloria.
Toni
Toni is Gloria's older son who dreams of going back to his home village to become a farmer. To accomplish this he works as a drug dealer, and his grandmother accompanies him because she wishes to go back to the old home as well.
Miguel
Miguel is Gloria's younger son who sells his body to pedophile men. He ends up living with a pedophile dentist, but comes back to his mother at the end of the movie.
Juani
Juani is Gloria's neighbor. She works as a seamstress and has a daughter whom she physically and psychologically abuses because of resentment towards her ex-husband.
Grandmother
Grandmother is Antonio's mother who lives together with the family. She is an eccentric diabetic who is addicted to sweets and dreams of going back to the old village together with her grandson.
