Victor
Victor is a slave who escaped a plantation a number of years ago, but after being found several years later was given a choice to be a slave again or help the U.S. marshals hunt down escaping slaves.
Officer Cook
Officer Willie Cook is the police officer that was at the restaurant the night that Victor was pleading with Father Barton to "free his wife" from slavery. He is a funny, charismatic, and confident man who later seeks out Victor to help him persuade Father Barton. Officer Cook works as an "eye" to Father Barton, and he keeps an eye on his actions, almost like a bodyguard.
Father Barton
Father Barton is a Reverend in a church that helps free slaves and get them the freedom they deserve. He is introduced into the plot as the way that Victor is able to help get "Gentle" out of slavery in South Carolina. He denies the offer originally, stating that he has done many recently and can't help him out this time.
Gentle
Gentle is the character code name for the escaped slave that Victor is hunting. Jackdaw is his actual name.
Mr. Bridge
Mr. Bridge is the U.S. Marshall that assigns and checks in on Victor's progress on capturing escaped slave Jackdaw.
