Three Sisters Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

Three Sisters is often listed as one of Chekhov’s greatest works, along with Uncle Vanya, The Cherry Orchard, and The Seagull. Students may also be interested in Chekhov's shorter plays, such as The Bear.

Chekhov exists in the context of nineteenth-century Russian literature; students seeking to understand that work might be interested in novels by Dostoevsky (Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov) or Tolstoy (War and Peace, Anna Karenina), or the short stories of Gogol (The Overcoat).
